Each season brings new colours and patterns and it’s not an easy job choosing the collection. We plan months in advance to make sure we have time to get everything perfect. From fun patterns to plain colours that match just right.
I’m drawn to nature and the world around me, this is my biggest inspiration for each season with autumn being my favourite. My starting point is always choosing my colour pallet, once this is decided we can then start looking for our prints.
I spend a lot of time looking for designs that are just right and I’m very particular over what I choose. They need to be neutral and grown up but still child friendly. I hate bright bold childish designs, you know when you walk into Asda or Tesco and the whole boys section is bright red, blue and green and everything is covered in diggers and dinosaurs and the girls section is literally every shade of pink with unicorns everywhere? Well you will 100% never see that from us 😂
Once i know what patterns I would like next step is finding them, we work closely with designers as well as me drawing a lot of our patterns myself. I love to support other artists by buying their designs and bringing their drawings to life in our clothing. However some licenses don’t come cheap, one of our Christmas prints has just cost me £200 for a license for the year.
Finally once I have bought or drawn our patterns I get them sent over to our fabric printers. We get samples of each to ensure them match just right with the plain colours we chose. Once we are happy they go into full print and I started getting super excited. They usually take 2-3 weeks for our big bulk order.
I am always so nervous when it comes to releasing them to you guys, I worry that you may not like them or we may not have ordered enough. I’ll be honest I don’t always get it right, some designs that I think will be really popular just flop and others that I’m unsure of can end up being the best seller.
But that’s how each collection is chosen and I can not wait to release Autumn 2022 for you all.
