Tips for removing mud stains

Tips for removing mud stains

Have you ever put a super cute outfit on your little one for them to have it filthy in minutes? I certainly have and with my two it’s always when they’re wearing their best clothes 😂

With the weather changing and rainy days approaching I thought I’d share with you my best tips for getting mud stains out. We still spend a lot of time outdoors even in autumn and winter so mud stains is something I have to deal with regularly.

Step by step guide:

1- If the mud is really thick say they’ve fallen over in a really muddy puddle and it’s caked on your going to want to let it dry first. When there is a lot of mud adding water is only going to spread it further. Once fully dry scrape as much of the mud off as possible, take them outside and give them a good old shake.

2- Once you’ve removed as much mud as possible it’s time to give the item of clothing a good soak in soapy water to help loosen the particles. Fill a sink with warm water and add dish soap, let it soak for a good 30 minutes to an hour depending how muddy it is.

3- Once they have finished soaking give them a good rinse, this is when I will use a stain remover for stubborn bits. I like to use the brand Ecover, it’s absolutely brilliant it’s made from plant based biodegradable ingredients and vegan friendly. It’s far better for our environment than some other brands. I apply the liquid onto the stains and work it in with the built in brush supplier with the Ecover satin remover. Obviously you can use any brand you prefer.

4- I now put them into the washing machine on their own so the water has plenty of space to throw them about the drum. You don’t want to put them into a packed machine. I use my Ecover laundry detergent and fabric softener and wash at 30 degrees.

Once the wash has finished your stains should be gone. If they’re still faint you can dry them on the line in direct sunlight which will help remove the very last of the stain.

On super stubborn stains I will also use bleach, even coloured garments can be bleached if done properly but I can cover that in another post if you guys are interested.

I hope this post will help you save your outfits and still enjoy many days out in your favourite Talibri outfits. If any of you try my method let me know how you get on.

lastly below are the images of the products I use for my laundry.
